Mineralogical and Grain Size Analysis of Bai Hassan Formation Terraces in Al-Teeb Area, SE Iraq

Bai Hassan Formation is exposed as remnants of beds from previous formations due to severe erosion that were removed. Results grain size analysis revealed most the studied sediments coarse-grained ranging coarse sand gravel. The study shows are poorly sorted. values skewed coefficients ranged fine strongly skewed, and negative indicate occurrence hard changes in environment. Meanwhile, kurtosis for sediment differences these flow sorted a relatively high energy Light minerals like quartz, feldspars, rock fragments identified. Heavy such chlorite, amphibole, pyroxene, mica, epidote, zircon, garnet, tourmaline, rutile, kyanite, staurolite can provide information about geological processes environments occurred particular area. These be indicative specific types, metamorphic or igneous formations, derived Zagros mountains. collision between Arabian Plate Eurasian resulted formation Fold Thrust Belt, leading uplift deformation Mountains.
